On Monday, students will attend a Veterans Day assembly at school. Since Avon operates schools on Veterans Day, it’s a great way to not only honor veterans but to also teach students the importance of those who serve for our country.
Our school has a very large book room that houses thousands of leveled texts (mostly novels). Unfortunately, it’s in a sad state of disrepair. I volunteered my class to take on cleanup/restructuring as a class project. We will weave this into our Language Arts program – students will learn about choosing the right book, book levels, genres, book organization, and most importantly, building a sense of community by doing something to help out all of Thompson Brook.
