I hope that everyone had a great Labor Day weekend. It was a nice buffer between a two-day and a four-day week for students. I will be posting a Weekly Newsletter on this website with information about the upcoming week, a cartoon/picture, and below that a snapshot calendar of upcoming events. I also provide a paper newsletter, the Monday Memo, which goes out each Monday (or the first day of the school week). Students will receive their first one on Tuesday and this should be signed by a parent/guardian and returned to school the next day.
Grade 5 Open House is next Tuesday, September 9 at 6:30 PM. It’s my opportunity to tell parents what adventures we will be embarking on this year, and how parents can best help me out on the home end. Please try to attend.
Last week, I told students about an (optional) early morning bike ride I will be taking with the class on Thursday, September 18. For anyone interested in going, we will be leaving from the Avon Free Public Library at 7 AM. We will be joined by students from Mr. Lindberg’s class as well. Anyone attending will need to bring a working bike (with properly inflated tires) and a helmet. I will send permission slips out this week. Bikes will need to be picked up from Thompson Brook either later that day or afternoon by a parent.
Upcoming Events

Bike Ride to School – Thursday, September 18
