Weekly Newsletter (September 9-12)

This week students begin their third partial week of school. As they learn routines, we will continue to move more and more into the regular academics. My homework policy requires students to turn in homework each morning, but I have been lenient thus far and have given reminders to all students as they get used to this. In the near future though, I will start giving out homework slips.

Grade 5 Open House is Tuesday, September 9 at 6:30 PM. It’s my opportunity to tell parents what adventures we will be embarking on this year, and how parents can best help me out on the home end. Please try to attend.

A couple weeks ago, I told students about an (optional) early morning bike ride I will be taking with the class on Thursday, September 18. For anyone interested in going, we will be leaving from the Avon Free Public Library at 7 AM. We will be joined by students from Mr. Lindberg’s class as well. Anyone attending will need to bring a working bike (with properly inflated tires) and a helmet. Permission slips went out last week. Bikes will need to be picked up from Thompson Brook either later that day or afternoon by a parent.
