Four-dayer this week, coming off the tail-end of Martin Luther King Weekend. Considering last week was only three days of school (with the surprise snow day), this is a longer week! Students took the Rocks & Minerals Test in Science last week. A new unit begins this week in the Science Lab with Mrs. Luddy.

This is a short week for students – no school on Friday (teacher professional development) and then no school the following Monday (Martin Luther King Day). I also have curriculum meetings at the high school all day on Wednesday and Thursday so students will have a substitute those days. There is a Rocks & Minerals Test in Science on Tuesday – I distributed a Study Guide on Thursday last week. I will give them a chance to work on studying (using strategies they learned this year) in class on Monday.

I was hoping to start the year off with a bang, but all I really did was start it off with a back injury so I was out Thursday and Friday. I will say that of all ways to hurt my back, doing it while skiing on 15 inches of fresh snow at Stowe was kind of worth it! As we move into the last six months of the school year our writing will kick up a notch, we’ll begin the American Revolution in Social Studies, and phase two of Bungles (after a great Grand Opening) gets going.
