Our rescheduled trip to the Old State House is on Monday. We will be gone most of the school day. Students should bring a lunch & drink.

Students finished their last science unit of the year that they will be switching teachers for. There is one more science unit (Matter and Energy in Organisms and Ecosystems), but they will stay with me for this last unit. This will start sometime in late April.

It was great seeing so many of you at Parent/Teacher Conferences last week. As of this week, there are now less than three months left in the school year. If there are no more unexpected days off this year, the last day of school will be Tuesday, June 20.

Last week was quite a mess with the two days off of school and then two half days at the end of the day. Much of what was planned didn’t happen. We were able to get in the math test on Friday so we will start the next math unit this week. The final science week was supposed to conclude, but that is now this week. This week will be the last time students will switch for science this year. We were  also supposed to start book groups last week, and now they will begin this week. Students will be reading a historical fiction novel set during the American Revolution time period.

Parent/Teacher Conferences are this week, mostly on Thursday and Friday, although I do offer morning times all week. Students were supposed to take their Language Arts test on Friday last week, but with the “snow” day the test will be on Monday instead. We will also be starting book groups this week, and students will be reading a historical fiction novel set during the American Revolution time period.

Our trip to the Old State House is now on March 27. It was originally cancelled due to a two-hour delay that day. Actually, all three fifth grade teams had their trips cancelled on three different days. It may not have been a brutal winter nor have we had many days off, but we had many snow disruptions in the form of two-hour delays and early dismissals.

Students finished their American Revolution speeches last week. They are very relieved to have that out of the way…
