It was great seeing so many parents at Parent/Teacher Conferences last week. I also want to give a big thank you to everyone who helped or donated (time or money) for the Holiday Bear Project. It was the most successful experience I’ve ever had with the project, with the most money raised and the most students going shopping (all of them). Students learned about fundraising, budgeting, wrapping presents, and of course, empathy. Two kids are going to have a very pleasant surprise this holiday season.

Last week students applied for positions and submitted resumes for our class store, Bungles. They will find out soon what their jobs are as either the store manager, assistant manager, sales representative, or advertising agent.

This week students will be introduced to the World Food Fest 2015 project. You could check out all the details from the attached packet (that students will have on Monday, too), but the bottom line is that this is an intensive cultural and geography project that we will be working on over the next two weeks, with the culminating event being a World Food Fest on December 23. In plain English, we’ll have a big ‘ole party with a lot of food and parents are invited, too.

Students will also start the Colony Brochure 2015 project on Tuesday. They will be working with a partner on a project involving one of the 13 colonies. Most of this will be done in school.
